Urea splitting by urease and its inhibition - Digital

LB4.2.3.2C
Urea splitting by urease and its inhibition - Digital
Urea splitting by urease and its inhibition - Digital

Description

In this experiment the students will study the enzymatic splitting of urea by urease. Since ammonium ions and carbonate ions are produced during the cleavage, the course of the reaction and thus the activity of the enzyme can be followed via the increase in conductivity. In addition, the students recognise that the enzyme urease (representative of the class of enzymes) can be inhibited by heavy metals.
