The zinc iodide battery - Digital

LC3.1.3.4C
The zinc iodide battery - Digital
The zinc iodide battery - Digital

Description

In this experiment the students build a zinc iodide accumulator and in the first part of the experiment charge it using electrolysis. The students can then observe this because iodine is produced in one half-cell and zinc is deposited on the carbon electrode in the other half-cell. The rechargeable battery is discharged by connecting it to a consumer and the cell voltage is measured with the Mobile-CASSY. The students realise that the zinc iodide element is an accumulator, i.e. a secondary element.
