Blue bottle experiment
Blue bottle experiment

Description

Similar to the copper(II) ions in the Fehling test, the dye methylene blue can also be reduced by glucose. This reducing effect of glucose can be demonstrated very impressively and vividly using the so-called blue bottle experiment. With this demonstration experiment, redox systems can be thematised.
