Sliding friction (quantitative)

LP1.2.1.2
Sliding friction (quantitative)
Sliding friction (quantitative)

Description

The students determine the sliding frictional force of different bodies by attaching them to a dynamometer and moving them.

They discover that the sliding frictional force:

  • is independent of the size of the contact surface,
  • is dependent on the nature of the two friction surfaces, and
  • is proportional to the weight of the body.
