Production of ammonium sulphate

LC4.4.1.1
Production of ammonium sulphate
Production of ammonium sulphate

Description

Nitrogen is essential for the growth of plants. Most plants cannot bind nitrogen from the air and need an external source of nitrogen. For example, ammonia or nitrate can be this source. Today, the entire agricultural sector is dependent on the industrial synthesis of ammonia and nitrate. Without the synthesis of ammonia from atmospheric nitrogen developed by Haber-Bosch, feeding the world's population would be impossible today. In this experiment, the students learn how to produce the fertiliser base material ammonium sulphate.
