Induction phenomena on an electroscope caused by friction rods

LP3.1.3.4
Induction phenomena on an electroscope caused by friction rods
Induction phenomena on an electroscope caused by friction rods

Description

In this experiment, the students explore the force effect of charged rods on an electroscope, which they have previously charged. The students are introduced to the phenomenon of inductance and the effect of inductance on an electroscope. They learn that when charged bodies approach an electroscope, they exert a force on the electroscope that causes a charge shift within the electroscope. They also realise that with an already charged electroscope, it is possible to distinguish whether the charged body and the electroscope are charged with the same or opposite polarity.
