Iodoform test

LC2.3.2.2
Iodoform test
Iodoform test

Description

In this experiment the iodoform test is introduced as the detection reaction for ethanol (and also other 1-hydroxy alcohols). This is done by carrying out the iodoform test with ethanol and 1-propanol (as a negative sample). From this, the students learn to carry out a detection reaction for ethanol and to interpret the result.
