Description

The students learn that catalytic cracking transforms long-chain carbons (fuel oil) into shorter carbons (for example butane, propane or propene). Combustible gases are produced, which are less viscous than the fuel oil in the condensed state. The resulting crack product can be examined in more detail in another experiment.
