Electrostatic forces between friction rod and pendulum

LP3.1.5.1
Electrostatic forces between friction rod and pendulum
Electrostatic forces between friction rod and pendulum

Description

In this experiment, the students explore the force effect of a charged rod on an uncharged pendulum and on a metal pendulum with the same polarity. They will learn about the phenomenon of induction and that induction leads to an attraction between a charged body and an uncharged body due to charge displacement. They also study the electrostatic force effects between 2 bodies with the same polarity. In doing so, they learn that in the case of bodies with the same polarity, attraction due to induction and electrostatic repelling occur together, whereby the influence of the induction is predominant in the close range.
