Description

To determine the specific evaporation heat Q_V of water, pure steam is fed into the calorimeter in the experiment P2.4.1.1, in which cold water is heated to the mixing temperature ϑ_m. The steam condenses to water and gives off heat in the process; the condensed water is cooled to the mixing temperature. The experiment measures the starting temperature ϑ₂ and the mass m₂ of the cold water, the mixing temperature ϑ_m and the total mass

By comparing the amount of heat given off and absorbed, we can derive the equation
