Description

In this experiment, the students perform an alkaline ester hydrolysis (saponification) of acetic ethylester with sodium hydroxide solution and record the course of the reaction using a conductivity measurement. Acetic ethylester is split into ethanol and sodium acetate. This leads to a change in conductivity. The students can follow the reaction and gain insight into the reaction kinetics of this reaction.
