Description

The Riedenburger Model is a modular experiment system for lower secondary science education. The product range consists of five different sets, all identical in structure and equipment concept and differing only in the selection of experiments. It is aligned with Cambridge O Level requirements and reflects a globally averaged curriculum standard, ensuring international relevance and compatibility. The experiments are individually packed in drawers and arranged to fit into a standard laboratory cabinet. The modular structure allows the experiments to be flexibly rearranged and adapted to align with local curricula requirements.

The experiment selection is tailored specifically to Year 9 while addressing core topics of science education for students approximately aged 14–17. It covers more advanced concepts including organic chemistry and plastics, radioactivity and nuclear phenomena, as well as fundamental electronics and semiconductor applications. Each set includes a total of 23 experiments, consisting of 18 student experiments and 5 teacher demonstration experiments.

Equipment for teacher experiments is provided once, while student experiment equipment is supplied in quantities that allow up to five student groups to carry out experiments simultaneously. For every experiment, detailed documentation is provided, including step-by-step instructions for teachers and students, didactic notes, photographs of the experimental setup, and risk assessment information. All documents are supplied in printed form and can also be accessed digitally via a QR code.

Experimental topics
Characteristics of organic substances
The combustion gas of organic substances
Syntheseis of a plastic material
The properties of some alkanes
Superabsorber
Properties of various plastics
Dissolution of polystyrene
Distillation of ethanol
Detection of sugar in food
Detection of radioactive radiation in the environment
Safety rules when handling radioactive radiation - zero effect, gate time, distance
Shielding from radioactive radiation
Half-life
Chain reaction
Learning curve with the finger maze
Light-dependent resistance
Function of a diode
And/or- Switch
Transistor - Twilight switch and light barrier

Some of the drawers contain chemicals. Some of these may only be stored in a passively ventilated cabinet, e.g. in the recommended cabinet 206 600  (to be ordered separately). Storage in a different cabinet must be clarified separately.
