Fault Simulator for Installation Circuit

Description

The fault simulator provides the simulation of the typical faults which frequently occur in practical applications such as conductor mix-up, open phase and dead short circuit to exposed conductive part. The unit may be optionally operated at electrically isolated 23 V extra-low voltage or 230 V AC. It is therefore suitable for use with commercial testing and measuring instruments for the detection of faults in tests and measurements based on practical work.

The incorporated isolating and safety isolating transformers guarantee a high degree of safety when handling the simulator. In order to provide fault detection based on practical application, the only accessible parts of the unit are the electrical equipment and the connections; the conductor path between individual items of equipment is hidden. A mask covers the equipment not required for the installation circuit to be tested and thus provides for straight forward system arrangement.

Fifty-four toggle switches allow for the programming of a large number of individual faults and fault combinations according to a programming table with very little setting-up time. These switches are behind a lockable cover with teacher access. All accessories are kept behind a lockable door in the fault simulator.

The following installation circuits with common faults can be examined:
- On/off circuit
- Series connection
- Two-way circuit
- Intermediate-switch circuit
- Current-impulse circuit
- Staircase lighting circuit
- Fluorescent lamp circuit
