Residential Load Curve Experiments
This hands-on training equipement set empowers learners to explore real-world electricity consumption patterns using the CASSY SCADA platform. Through progressive experiments, students gain practical skills in interpreting load profiles, calculating key metrics like load factor and peak-to-average ratio, and understanding the economic and environmental impacts of household energy use.
Designed for smart grid training environments, this system enables:
- Real-time simulation of residential power profiles with controllable loads
- Quantitative analysis of energy efficiency and carbon footprint
- Comparative insights into weekday vs. weekend consumption behaviors
Robust resistive, inductive and capacitive loads can simulate electrical consumers such as households, factories or an entire city and generate time-varying load situations. This allows the load behaviour of complex consumers in the smart grid to be simulated. Various load profiles are available for all scenarios. The loads are controlled by CASSY SCADA and can be easily integrated into existing systems.
