The grid mesh is the ideal solution for connection up to four locally separated power generators or consumers in the Smart Grid. It also enables the demonstration of grid topologies.
Up to 2 kW of power can be transferred between adjacent ports.
Each connection can be switched manually via front panel buttons or remotely via the control input.
The direction of energy flow in the mesh is visualised on the connection.
In order to avoid faults when connecting unsynchronised generators, the system is equipped with phase and voltage detection. If a fault is detected, the connection is blocked and the fault is signalled.
Additionally, grid faults, such as storm damage to an overhead line, can be simulated via the control input. Faults block the flow of energy, so alternative transmission routes must be found to supply the consumers.
By adding further grid meshes, the power grid can be extended horizontally and vertically, so that different grid topologies can be realized, e.g. a ring grid or a multiple-fed mesh grid.
An optionally available set of masks can be used to visualise different participants at the ports.
