With the wind module, the Power Control CASSY 773530 operates as a wind power station.
The wind module includes 52 real-world wind speed profiles. The power output of the wind turbine is based on these profiles.
To demonstrate the different conditions for wind energy, wind speed profiles from onshore and offshore sites at different times of the year and weather conditions can be selected and compared.
The power of the wind turbine is calculated from the current wind speed using the power curve. For this calculation, the power curves of two turbines of different height and power rating, 80 m with 2 MW and 120 m with 4.5 MW, can be selected.
Depending on the selected weather conditions, randomly generated wind gusts affect the turbine's output. In this way, the volatility and unpredictability of wind power generation can be analysed and visualised.
The two control inputs can be used to set the start time of the wind profile, trigger the start and control the output of the wind turbine.
