System
DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is an internationally standardised protocol for the digital control of lighting systems. The system enables the precise control of individual luminaires or groups of luminaires via a digital two-wire cable. The DALI Compact Trainer can be used to teach all the important aspects of modern lighting control in a practical manner.
DALI offers numerous advantages over conventional control systems:
- Individual control of up to 64 control gear devices per DALI line
- Precise dimming in 256 brightness levels
- Bidirectional communication for feedback and diagnostics
- Flexible grouping and scene management
- Simple configuration and commissioning
- Energy-efficient lighting control
Learning objectives
- Understanding the basics of the DALI protocol
- Setting up and wiring DALI systems
- Addressing and configuring DALI operating devices
- Creating and managing lighting scenes
- Grouping luminaires
- Fault diagnosis and maintenance
- Integration into building automation systems
Function
The DALI Compact Trainer offers a compact solution for practical training in DALI lighting technology. The system comprises a compact trainer with an integrated control unit and two DALI luminaires. The digital two-wire connection enables complete control over brightness, scenes and group functions. The single-phase connection unit provides a safe power supply for the setup.
Method
The equipment is equally suitable for demonstrations and student experiments. The experiments are carried out using LabDocs, which guides users step by step through the commissioning, configuration and programming of DALI systems. Practical exercises include addressing, grouping, scene programming and troubleshooting.
Target groups
Vocational training in electrical engineering in trade and industry, especially for prospective electricians, electronics technicians for energy and building technology, lighting designers and system integrators. The system is suitable for basic training as well as for in-depth exercises in modern lighting technology and building automation.
