Description

The vibrating thread apparatus is used for the clear demonstration of standing transverse waves in physics education. By adjusting the rope tension, both wavelength and wave propagation speed can be directly observed. In combination with a function generator (e.g., 522621), the dependence of wavelength on frequency can also be demonstrated experimentally.
The device is easy to operate, robust, and ideal for demonstrations as well as for independent student experiments.
