Description

The experiment P2.3.3.1 show the equivalence of mechanical and heat energy. A hand crank is used to turn various calorimeter vessels on their own axes, and friction on a nylon belt causes them to become warmer. The friction force is equivalent to the weight G of a suspended weight. For n turns of the calorimeter, the mechanical work is thus

This results in an increase in the temperature of the calorimeter which corresponds to the specific heat capacity

To confirm the relationship

the two quantities are plotted together in a diagram. The measurement is conducted and evaluated manually point by point.
