CAN/LIN bus training system for windshield wiper control with fault switches
The system consists of four networked original control units:
- Steering column electronics
- Vehicle electrical system control unit
- Wiper angle control unit
- Rain/light sensor
As a "sub-bus" to the CAN data bus, the LIN (= Local Interconnect Network) bus is a single-wire bus that provides sensor data or triggers actuator events on request from the CAN bus master. In automatic wiper interval mode, the rain sensor detects the intensity of precipitation and reports this to the vehicle electrical system control unit via the LIN bus. This activates the wiper motor (also via the LIN bus) with an interval level corresponding to the amount of precipitation: little rain = infrequent repetition, a lot of rain = frequent repetition of the wiper movement. The rain sensor installed behind a Plexiglas pane can be activated with the spray mist from a spray bottle.
The CASSY system (524013SKFZ) is used to record measured values at the 4 mm measuring sockets and evaluate the data telegrams. The data telegrams can be recorded and interpreted using an oscilloscope. A complete bus protocol analysis can be carried out with the 739589 vehicle diagnostic tester. The CAN bus multi adapter (773961) or the LIN bus PC adapter USB (7395881) can be used for further protocol analysis.
16 CAN or LIN errors can be activated in the two lockable error switch boxes, e.g:
- Ground faults
- Positive faults
- CAN H and CAN L faults
- Contact resistances
- Interruptions
The training system includes:
- CAN bus-capable steering column electronics with wiper lever
- CAN and LIN bus-capable vehicle electrical system control unit
- LIN bus-capable wiper motor
- LIN bus-capable rain sensor
- Fault switch box (CAN and LIN faults)
The system is self-diagnostic in conjunction with the gateway with battery monitoring (738738); all diagnostic options can be run through using a corresponding diagnostic tester vehicle diagnostic adapter CAN+USB (7379803).
