The COM4LAB course entitled “DC Technology I” is the first course on the fundamentals of DC technology. The fundamental concepts and laws of electrical engineering are explained and developed in a practical environment using a raft of tests. The course comprises 14 chapters.
Total duration: Up to 5 hours
Learning objectives
The students are to:
- be able to understand the setup and effect of basic circuits and
- be able to understand and apply the fundamental laws of electrical engineering.
Topics
The course covers the following topics:
- (simple) electrical circuit with switch(es)
series circuit | parallel circuit | multiway switching | polarity reversing circuit | relay
- conductivity and electrical resistance
- Ohm's law
- Kirchhoff's circuit laws
- analysis of resistive circuits
series circuits | parallel circuits, unloaded/loaded voltage dividers | Wheatstone bridge
Previous knowledge
The students do not need any previous knowledge of electrical engineering in order to be able to complete the course successfully. Dealing with simple formulas is, however, required.
