Description

The COM4LAB course entitled “Operational Amplifier” gives an insight into the world of operational amplifiers. From the standard circuit to the realization of a function generator, all important topics are dealt with. The course comprises 20 chapters.

Total duration: Up to 11 hours

Target audience

Among others, the course can be used to support the training process for the following professions:

  • electrical system fitter
  • electronics technician for automation technology
  • electronics technician for energy and building technology
  • electronics technician for devices and systems
  • electronics technician for information and system technology
  • electronics technician for machine and drive technology
  • aircraft electronics technician
  • system electronics technician

Learning objectives

The students are to:

  • be able to understand the characteristics and operation of the operational amplifier and
  • be able to use and apply operational amplifiers correctly.

The course covers the following topics:

  • characteristics of an operational amplifier
  • inverting and non-inverting operational amplifier
  • switches

    comparator − Schmitt trigger

  • analogue arithmetic circuits

    adder − subtracter − integrator − differentiator

  • filter circuits

    active RC filter − passive RC filter

  • stabilisation circuits

    constant voltage source − constant current source

  • oscillating circuits

    astable multivibrator − Wien bridge oscillator

  • function generator

Previous knowledge

The students need knowledge of the design of electronic circuits in order to be able to complete the course successfully. Additionally, dealing with formulas is required.
