Description

In experiment C1.4.4.1 the Boyle-Mariotte law is confirmed by means of a gas thermometer. An air column is maintained at constant room temperature T. At an external pressure p0, it has a volume of V0 bounded by a mercury stopper. The pressure p in the air column is then reduced by evacuating air at the open end, and the increased volume V of the air column is determined for different pressure values p. The evaluation confirms the relationship p V = p0 V0= const. (Boyle-Mariotte law).
