Description

The aim of the experiment P1.7.7.4 is to conduct Fourier analysis of sounds having different tone colors and pitches. As examples, the vowels of the human voice and the sounds of musical instruments are analyzed. The various vowels of a language differ mainly in the amplitudes of the harmonics. The fundamental frequency f0 depends on the pitch of the voice. This is approx. 200 Hz for high-pitched voices and approx. 80 Hz for low-pitched voices. The vocal tone color is determined by variations in the excitation of the harmonics. The audible tones of musical instruments are also determined by the excitation of harmonics.
